The quartet op. 67 is paired with Brahms' piano quintet op. 34. Here, the Hagen Quartett is joined by their regular collaborator, pianist Kirill Gerstein. The unprecedented three-decade career of the Hagen Quartet began in 1981. It's early years, marked by a series of prizes in chamber music competitions and an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon that was to produce around forty-five albums over the following twenty years, enabled the group to work it's way through the virtually un- limited quartet repertoire from which the distinctive profile of the Hagens has emerged. Collaborations with artistic personalities such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt and György Kurtág are as important to the Hagen Quartet as it's concert appearances with performers including Maurizio Pollini, Mitsuko Uchida, Sabine Meyer, Krystian Zimerman, Heinrich Schiff and Jörg Widmann. The group's concert repertoire and discography feature attractive and intelligently arranged programmes embracing the entire history of the string quartet, from it's pre-Haydn beginnings right through to Kurtág. The Hagen Quartet also works closely with composers of it's own generation, whether by reviving existing works or by commissioning and premiering new pieces.

Tracks
- Disc 1 -
1 Agricola: Fortuna Desperata - Secular Music of the 15th Century 8.553840
- Disc 2 -
1 Arnesen: Infinity: Choral Works 8.573788
- Disc 3 -
1 Beethoven: Der Glorreiche Augenblick - Choral Fantasy 8.572783
- Disc 4 -
1 Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem 8.572996
- Disc 5 -
1 Cherubini: Requiem No. 1 - Marche Funebre 8.554749
- Disc 6 -
1 Donizetti: Aristea 8.573360
- Disc 7 -
1 Dvořák: Requiem 8.572874-75
- Disc 8 -
1 Fauré: Requiem / Messe Basse 8.550765
- Disc 9 -
1 Gesualdo: Madrigals, Book 4 8.572137
- Disc 10 -
1 Handel: Messiah (Highlights) 8.553258
- Disc 11 -
1 Haydn: Missa Brevis - Harmoniemesse 8.572126
- Disc 12 -
1 Janacek: Glagolitic Mass - Sinfonietta 8.572639
- Disc 13 -
1 Lassus: St Matthew Passion 8.573840
- Disc 14 -
1 Léonin & Pérotin: Sacred Music from Notre-Dame Cathedral 8.557340
- Disc 15 -
1 Mayr: Te Deum - Mozart: Missa Solemnis 8.570926
- Disc 16 -
1 Mozart: Requiem 8.557728
- Disc 17 -
1 Palestrina: Missa Sine Nomine - Missa L'homme Arme 8.553314
- Disc 18 -
1 PÄRT: Passio (ST.
