Bach, C.P.E.: Cello Concertos & Symphonies - Jean-Guihen Queyras, Ensemble Resonanz

On their first harmonia mundi recording to celebrate their collaboration with maestro Riccardo Minasi, Ensemble Resonanz is joined by guest soloist Jean-Guihen Queyras for a program of works by the great C.P.E. Bach. Featuring two cello concertos and the Symphony in G major, these performances showcase the sheer pleasure of the composer's music.

More than just a challenge to orthodoxy...
Why should music ‘before Mozart’ now be the sole preserve of period-instrument orchestras? For some years now, Ensemble Resonanz has challenged this idea, without ever neglecting the notion of the sheer pleasure to be derived from the concertos and symphonies of the great C. P. E. Bach. Like their guest soloist Jean-Guihen Queyras, all the musicians possess equal virtuosity in ‘historically informed’ performance (with gut strings for the string sections) and on instruments with a ‘modern’ setup (metal strings, as here).
