Just occasionally a fine organ of note will come to our notice and here is one such example, nestling in the heart of Harrogate. Built by Harrison and Harrison of Durham, the organ is housed in a fabulous acoustic and is ably demonstrated by David Halls (born in Harrogate and presently Master of the Music at Salisbury Cathedral) in music (much of it little or unrecorded) by Ernest Farrar, Bach, Guridi, Peeters and Rheinberger’s sixth sonata. An ideal CD for those wanting to hear a fine unrecorded organ to add to their collection alongside the more famous Harrison’s.
