Samuel Jones, currently composer-in-residence with the Seattle Symphony, has written a work inspired by famous murals located in public buildings throughout Texas. Roundings: Musings and Meditations on Texas New Deal Murals was commissioned by the Amarillo Symphony and James Setapen, Music Director and Conductor, for the Amarillo Symphony’s 75th Anniversary season. Each movement vividly depicts various aspects of southwestern life through colourful orchestration, memorable melodies and dramatic imagery. Also included is Jones’ Cello Sonata.
