Amazing Janina Fialkowska! The artistry and virtuosity of Arthur Rubinstein's former protege are still astounding, although a tumor in her left arm has temporarily overshadowed her brilliant career. Completely recovered in 2004, Fialkowska recorded Chopin's piano concertos with the Chamber Players of Canada (ATMA) ensemble, an album received with unanimous fervor. The pianist once again joins the ensemble to perform Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 11 and 12 in chamber version. The interpretation of these works played in concert by Ms. Fialkowska seduced John Terauds, the critic of the Toronto Star: “Fialkowska and her partners gave a great intimacy to the evening. They knew how to breathe into the music a flexibility in the emotion that often escapes the great orchestral formations. Reducing the number of instrumentalists to six highlights the effects inscribed by Mozart in the score.
