Roula Safar’s Mediterranean heritage goes back to the Phoenicians, the great explorers of unknown territories, the inventors of the alphabet, who offered incense and prayers to Astarte, the lunar goddess and to Baal, the solar god. Racines sacrées – Sacred Roots – is a modern echo of these ancient voices which, in Akkadian, Sumerian, Ugaritic, Aramaic and so many other languages, have expressed Man’s early devotion to the Divine, but also of the voices which, from time immemorial, have questioned the mysteries of the world and echoed them in poetry.
