MODERN JAZZ QUARTET - Milestones of a Legend (20 Original Albums on 10 CDS)

This box is a musical treat for all jazz fans. We are publishing on 10 CDs an incredible 20 original albums by the Modern Jazz Quartet. Founded in 1952 the ensemble made a name for themselves with their unique combination of cool jazz and European chamber music. Many people, especially in Europe, who had not until then heard any jazz, were also drawn to their concert venues. For a decade the group continued to enjoy huge success with their guest appearances worldwide. In the 1960s the quartet performed together only sporadically, the individual members tending to devote their time to other projects. In 1974 they broke up, only to come together again in 1981 when they toured throughout the world. Their last recording appeared in 1993.
